The Institute of Contemporary Arts of China opens in Beijing

On Friday in Beijing was opened officially the Institute of Contemporary Arts of China. This is the first research organization devoted to this area.

In the opening ceremony, Vice Minister of Culture of China, Wang Weizhang, presented certificates relevant to researchers of the institute. The organization is headed by Luo Zhongli, a renowned oil painter who currently holds the position of president of the Academy of Fine Arts of Sichuan.

Among the other experts committed to the cause are Jiang Xu of the Institute of Fine Arts of China, Wei Ershen Academy of Fine Arts, Lu Xun and Xu Bing at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Also participating in the project a large number of distinguished contemporary artists including Cai Guoqiang, Fang Lijun, Wang Guangyi, Yue Minjun and Zhang Xiaogang.

According to Ye Yongqing, the artistic supervisor of the new institute will be carried out extensive research and promotion of China's flourishing contemporary art.
