Gade was born May 1971 in Lhasa, Tibet.


In 1991, he graduated from the School of Fine Arts, Tibet University in Lhasa, with a degree in Traditional Chinese Realistic Painting. In 1992, he was admitted to the Master of Arts programme at the Central Academy of Arts as a student assistant.

Gade is a founding member of the Gedun Choephel Artists’ Guild. Now a lecturer in the School of Fine Arts, Tibet University, Gade is also a contracted artist for Rossi & Rossi Gallery in London, Plum Blossoms Gallery in Hong Kong and the Red Gate Gallery in Beijing.
